A Beacon of Legacy and Transformation: The Tirth at Chichondi
In the sacred village of Chichondi, the birthplace of Acharya Bhagwant Rashtrasanth Pujya Shri Anandrishi Ji Maharajsahab, a monumental Tirth is coming to life. This extraordinary project, inspired by the vision and dreams of Gurudev Shri Rishi Praveen, is destined to become a sanctuary of hope, peace, and spiritual transformation for generations to come.
Chichondi stands as a sacred landmark in Jain history, being the birthplace of Acharya Shri Anandrishi Ji Maharajsahab, a spiritual luminary and visionary reformer of the Sthanakvasi Sangh. He played a pivotal role in uniting Jain communities by establishing the Vardhaman Sthanakvasi Shraman Sangha—a testament to his dedication to harmony and spiritual progress.
Born as Nemichand on 27 July 1900, he displayed an extraordinary inclination toward spirituality from a young age, immersing himself in religious teachings and values. At the tender age of thirteen, on 7 December 1913, he renounced worldly pleasures and embraced monkhood under the guidance of his revered Guru, Pujya Shri Ratan Rishiji Maharajsahab, who gave him the name Anand Rishi Ji Maharaj. Under his Guru’s mentorship, he studied Sanskrit and Prakrit stotras, receiving extensive training in Jain philosophy. By 1920, at just 20 years of age, he delivered his first public sermon in Ahmednagar, showcasing the spiritual wisdom and clarity that would inspire generations.
Throughout his life, Acharya Shri spearheaded initiatives that bridged ancient Jain wisdom with the needs of the modern world. His contributions earned him recognition at the national level. In 1975, during a grand ceremony at Pune’s Shaniwar Wada, he was bestowed the title Rashtra Sant by Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik in honor of his unparalleled spiritual leadership. That same year, the Anand Foundation was established to carry forward his mission of service and enlightenment.
Acharya Shri Anandrishi Ji Maharajsahab’s life was a true embodiment of Jain principles, marked by self-discipline, enlightenment, and unwavering commitment to humanity. His legacy continues to inspire through this Tirth—a heartfelt tribute to his spiritual journey. He attained Samadhi Maran on 28 March 1992 in Ahmednagar, a moment now observed as Smriti Divas, honoring his eternal teachings and profound impact on the world.
